League Update 09/05/07

Dear All,

A terrible week for The Grapes has left his title ambitions in tatters and paved the way for The Dogs Ballacks to lift his first DITB title.

With just two weekends to go, Brother Brogan has opened up a crucial nine point gap which, although catchable, is a significant cushion at this late stage of the season.

A good week for FFA Cup Finalist Minus Three FC (56 points) also means that we have a battle for the third remaining Champions League place, while KFC Academical and Maclacticos are pushing Ashburton Groove N7 hard for that last UEFA Cup place.

Turning our attention to the dreaded 'cut' which will decide who plays in the Premier League and Conference League next season, Real Goldfish receive big props this week, jumping from a dangerous 19th position to the safety of 11th place with the week's highest score of 66 points. Under sever pressure, Gulladuff Mafia's score of 55 also sees Brother McDermott jump into the black zone... but only just. A couple of sweaty weekends ahead for the Mafia, not to mention Bazking in Glory who dropped into the red zone this week. Just five points separate Gulladuff Mafia, Kirbs Crawlers, Bazking in Glory and Yer Ma's Athletic but the premier League only has room for two of these four - although others could still be drawn into the dogfight.

The week's lowest scores go unsurprisingly to our bottom three who don't deserve any more mention than that.

So my friends, the end is drawng near. For many, they can't wait for the season to end so they can start afresh next season, but for many others, there is still plenty at stake.
