League Update

Dear All,

With every passing week, the chasing pack at the top of the table edge ever closer to the leaders and now it looks like we're in for one hell of a scrap in the remaining weeks.

In fact only 87 points separate the top ELEVEN teams and believe me, an 87 point gap can definitely be closed between now and the end of the season.

Now, I'm not advocating that you go out and bet your life savings on Bazking lifting the title... all I'm saying is that it's actually possible!

So where do I start... at the top of the table I suppose.

The Grapes continue to cling on to the lead amidst constant changing below. This week, it's the turn of The Dogs Ballacks to take up the challenge, leapfrogging The Penalty Kings and moving to within five points of the summit with a score of 60. KFC Academical continues to improve, jumping to 4th place with an impressive 63 points.

Minus Three FC remain in the fifth and final european spot but the hounds are closing with Maclacticos and Harpic Amsterdam in particualr scoring well.

No change in position at the bottom although The Busted Sofas and Well Hungarians will have renewed hoep thanks to the performance of some teams above them.

This week's high scorers are Gulladuff Mafia and Decies Ant Atac, both showing excellent form ahead of this weekend's FFA Cup quarter finals and scoring 70 points each! More importantly, both teams now have a realistic chance of making the cut for premier league football at the end of the season. Brother Crudden now enjoys a 20 point safety cushion while Brother McDermott's safety margin is just eight points. Come the end of the season, the middle of the table could well be more exciting (and more crucial) than the top. KFC's 63 point total was the third highest score of the week.

Crying into their pints this week are The Muppetaldinhos on 13, The mersey Miracles (hey you're too young to be drinking!!!) on 14 and Cool Dude Zoo on 19. No coincidence that all are in danger of the ultimate relegation.

Jumping from the red zone to the black zone this week are, as mentioned, Gulladuff Mafia (23rd to 18th) and Decies Ant Atac (21st to 15th), while going in the opposite direction are Kirbs Crawlers (17th to 23rd) and believe it or not.... THE PROF'S X! (16th to 21st). Too good to down? It's been said before about manys a team now enjoying their football in the lower leagues. Surely Kurt will turn things around in the remaining weeks but make no mistake, all other teams in that secvtion of the table will be fighting for their premiership survival so it certainly won't be easy.

This weekend sees the quarter finals of the FFA Cup and the line-up is as follows...

Minus Three FC (5) vs Decies Ant Atac (15)
Virgin Surfers (31) vs Maclacticos (7)
Gulladuff Mafia (18) vs The Grapes of Raff (1)
Harpic Amsterdam (8) vs The Blue Monkeys (14)

Based on this week's scores, we would have a semi final line-up of Decies Ant Atac, Maclacticos, Gulladuff Mafia and The Blue Monkeys but this weekend is a different proposition altogether.

Good luck to all teams involved. You're all just three matches away from some silverware.

Anyone wishing to make some transfers this week can do so using the password JIGSAW or the tel no 0901 601 4035.

Could life really be any more exciting than this?

Well yes I suppose.

Until next week then...
