League Update 25/04

Dear All,

With just four weekends to go in this year's Diving in the Box Fantasy Football League, it's time to pull out all the stops to achieve your dreams, hopes and ambitions - at whatever level they may be.

Some managers are vying for the league title, particularly The Dogs Ballacks and The Grapes of Raff. Just four points separate the teams - less than a goal, own goal, penalty save or sending off!

Some managers want to make sure that secure a place in Europe. The Penalty Kings currently occupy the third Champions League slot but a fierce battle is taking place for the UEFA Cup positions, currently held by KFC Academical and Minus Three FC - although contested also by Ashburton Groove N7, Maclacticos, Harpic Amsterdam, Minibabybelle FC, Flexie's Fairies and, believe it or not...................

.......... EVEN THE PROFESSOR!!!!!!

Yes, a lesson to be heeded by ALL managers in this crazy game. A massive score of 111 points this week has seen Brother Festraerts leap from 19th and the prospect of division two football to 11th place - just 42 points off fifth place. A few more weeks like this and Europe is a real possibility for The Prof who must have eventually changed the batteries in his famous magic calculator.

Some managers are desparate to avoid Division Two football next season with too many teams to mention in the melting pot.

Some definitely don't want to go down and are refusing to give up without a late fight... just look at the latest last gasp attempts from Hoofers (103 points) and 5-Star (97 points). From nowhere, they now have a glimmer of hope to cling on to.

Unfortunately others are heading in the wrong direction. Who would have thought that a score of 30 points would see Real Goldfish fall from 12th position to 20th position. Brother McAvoy now teeters on the brink of the red zone just one week after threatening to break into the top ten!!!! It's crazy I'm telling ya!!!!!

And what about the two time league champion and last year's cup champion Gulladuff Mafia who I'm sure has believed all season that he had everything in hand but now finds himself in danger of playing his football in the lower league next year!!! Having been knocked out of the cup in the semi finals last week, has Brother McDermott time to refocus on the league and make up those crucial 28 points to survive? It's not easy when everyone around you is in exactly the same predicament.

The only team in the league that should really be 100% resigned to its fate at this stage is Cool Dude Zoo, in no man's land at the bottom of the table. An absolutely appalling performance this season from Chuckle Brother Senior while son of Chucky - The Mersey Miracles - is also in danger of paying the relegation forfeit.

The Miracles and indeed The Muppetaldinhos could still rescue something from their season by overtaking The Busted Sofas or The Virgin Surfers in the final weeks. (Hint: Maynesy, you might need to use some transfers!).

So my friends, as you can see, there are still lots of surprises in store in these final few weeks.

As Slur Ballix Fergiscum once said, it's well and truly 'squeaky bum time' in the most crucial season in DITB history.

Don't give up and don't rest on your laurels. Instead, have a look at the performances this week of The Prof and Real Goldfish, prime examples that in this game, anything can happen...

... AND IT USUALLY DOES!!!!

Stock up on the bog roll, the worst is yet to come!
