League Update

Dear All,

The busy Christmas and New Year period is now over so it's time to take stock of your position and make plans for the second half of the season.

If you're in a good position, then there's every chance that'll you'll still be smiling in May. If not, then you have a lot of work to do to turn things around.

That said, it's not a time to give up. Remember anything can happen... and it usually does! A few more scores of 101 and 100 respectively for the Hoofers and the Hungarians would soon see their season turn around!!! There's no reason why in the second half of the season, you cannot score as many points as the leaders did in the first half of the season.

Yes, it's time to make your FF New Year's resolutions and start the year in style. The ball is at YOUR feet - it's what you do with it from now on that counts.

Funny how all our highest scores came from the Conference this week with Yer Ma's Athletic joining Brothers Bradley and Nugent and extending his lead at the top of the table (albeit a lesser table with meagre rations compared to the sumptuous feast on display at the top table!).

Speaking of which, The Prince still leads the way in The Premiership by a clear 30 points from Kirbs Crawlers who themselves are 20 points ahead of Au Revoir Thierry14. With Harpic Amsterdam hanging on in fourth position, could we have a new name on the ultimate prize this season?

Not if The Grapes, Chelsea Daggers or Dogs Ballacks have anything to say about it!!! Yes, while the lead at the top is still considerable, the sight of those three snapping at their heels will give The Prince and co many sleepless (and sheet soiling) nights between now and the finish line. Former champions Maclacticos and KFC Academical (I'm telling you... he did!!! Or was that season a bad dream?) are just behind too to add some pressure... but not much. Brendy's Bruisers are going well in 7th but tend to lack staying power over the course of a full season. I'll prepare myself for a punch in the head at next week's ACP now then!! ;-)

Good scores for Cherry Utd (96) and the Happy Monkeys (95) will ease their relegation fears but, while it's not looking too good at the moment for True Blue Strikers and Minibabybellefc, that third relegation slot is till up for grabs with at least four teams in contention. Just think of all the delights that The Conference has to offer folks!!!

No surprises that the week's lowest scorer is Cool Dude Zoo (33) whose rubbishness seems unfortunately to be spreading to the next generation with the Mersey Miracles clocking up 37 points.

The next lowest score was 57. Just to put it into context.

So it's back to the bread and butter of league football this season and anyone with transfers still to use can do so with the password KEEGAN or phone number 0901 601 4001.

Just a couple of points before I go...

1) The draw for the first round of the FFA Cup will hopefully be made tomorrow - depending on the availability of my two assistants, Brothers Johnston and Nightingale.

2) The Diving in the Box ACP will take place next Saturday, January 19 in The Botanic Inn. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd matches all kick off at 3 o'clock that day so it should be fun! Hope you can make it.
