Dear All,

One of the worst jobs that Brother Johnston and I have to carry out every year is to make the draw for the preliminary round of the DITB FFA Cup.

 

Let’s face it, who really cares what Conference teams make it into the first round proper but I suppose it’s only fair that we give the dregs a chance to enjoy their moment in the limelight for a change.

 

Anyway, it’s a dirty, dull, boring job but someone has to do it.

 

The way it works is that we need 32 teams to go into the draw for the first round proper of the FFA Cup - which means that we have to whittle our existing 20 Conference League teams down to 12.

We will do this by drawing 16 teams in eight preliminary round ties, the winners of which will join the 20 Premiership teams and the remaining four Conference teams - who will get a bye - in the first round proper.

The following matches will take place this weekend which may include games that have already taken place this week. 

Simply, whichever team scores the most points over the next week progresses.  

It doesn't matter what your league position is - but rather how you do on the day.  

In the event of a draw, there will be a replay the following week.  If it is still a draw after two weeks, the team with home advantage (i.e., the one whose name was drawn first) goes through.

Conference teams should now brace themselves for their 15 minutes of fame.

And now Brother Johnston will get his big money balls out and we can start the draw.

Real Goldfish               vs         The Well Hungarians (may as well get a bye Nujo!)

Match Two:


Joey’s Monsters           vs         The Rio Chargers 

Match Three:

HahaBarcawankasFAF  vs         Minibabybelle FC (ouch grudge match!!!)

Match Four:


Jittery Dynamos           vs         Kirbs Crawlers

Match Five:


Boys of Summer          vs         Fullofthepipe  

Match Six:

Mattrua                         vs         Bazkinginglory 

Match Seven:

Cherry Utd                    vs         Stickshifter Utd

 

Match Eight:

Cool Dude Zoo             vs         Hoof Hearted Utd

 

BYES:

The following teams will automatically qualify for the first round proper of the FFA Cup.

1)     Gunning for Glory (second year in a row)

2)     Dirty Dubs XI (second year in a row)

3)     Inshallah 

4)     Torres & Co
