We now know who will be competing in this year's Diving in the Box FF Cup Final.

The results of the semi-finals were as follows...

 

Harpic Amsterdam (PL)                 39           vs            29          Cherry Utd (CL)

 

 

Gunning for Glory (CL)                   34           vs            52            Probably the Best (PL)

Yes, once again this year’s final will be an all Premiership affair,  contested by Harpic Amsterdam and Probably the Best.

 

In 2009, this would have been the community shield as Brother Molloy won the league that year and Brother Stevenson the cup.

 

Molloy has never won the FFA Cup so he will be hoping to add it to his trophy collection.  Stevenson will be hoping to make it two out of three (which ain’t bad).

 

Congratulations to both and all the best for the final which will take place on Saturday May 14.  Should be a good match.

 

Finally, I’m sure we all would like to pass on our commiserations to our Conference losers (on this occasion losers in both senses of the word).

We are now live from DITB HQ for the draw for the semi-finals of the DITB FFA Cup.

 

Four teams will go into the hat, namely...

Probably The Best (PL)

 

Brother Johnston will now put his two balls in the mixer and I will do the same as the official draw begins.

Dear All,

Is it just me or has this season been a very stop start one – consistently interrupted by international breaks?

I can’t believe there are only eight league games left and bearing this in mind, can anyone stop The Professor racing away to a record fourth league title?  The neutrals certainly hope so!

Before we have a quick look at the scores, there’s the small matter of a FFA Cup replay to clear up and the score from that was as follows:

KFC Academical                30           vs            44           Cherry United

So Cherry United joins fellow Conference team Gunning For Glory in the semi finals alongside PL sides Harpic Amsterdam and Probably The Best.

Turning back to the league, the only team with a realistic chance of catching Brother Festraerts in the Premiership is double-chasing Harpic Amsterdam.  Outside of that it’s a race for the three remaining European places between a host of teams including Diaby Does Dallas, The Grapes, Vuvuzola, Probably The Best and Prince of Darkness.

In the relegation zone it looks like any three from five teams – with Yer Ma’s Athletic, Busted Sofas and Gulladuff FF leading the way.  Just goes to show... you can take a man out of the Conference but you can never take the Conference out of the man. 

They’re like feckin’ homing pigeons!!!

Also hanging on to their Premiership survival though are stalwarts Blue Monkeys and KFC Academical (surely it’s only a matter of time!).  Squeaky bum time ahead for Brothers Shields and McCauley but they will be comforted when they look at the piss poor teams below them.

In the CL, two teams look to have already secured their places in the Premiership next season – namely the Rio Chargers and last year’s relegated Kirbs Crawlers.

The promised land is still a possibility though for a number of others with Gunning for Glory in pole position, just ahead of Cherry United (also hoping to make a quick return to the top flight).

Brother McAvoy remains stranded at the bottom by almost 200 points but the remaining relegation places look to be between Dirty Dubs, the Hoofers and the THREE O’Sullivans.

So my friends, it’s good to be back in action.  It seems like ages since the last FF weekend – I’ve almost forgotten how to make transfers (or what it’s like to have any!).

We’re now into April and the countdown to glory is well and truly on.

Who can hold their nerves in the home straight to become an FF legend or flounder at the final fence and forever be a famous FF failure.
