Week 14 Update

Dear All,

Another week over and as we head into the international break it's time for managers to sit back, take stock of their teams and get their batteries recharged for another charge at the league title.

And a pretty high scoring week it's been too (at least in the premiership that is) with the Prince of Darkness maintaining his lead at the top of the pile -despite a brief showing at the top for the self-confessed football guru Walls on Sunday morning. Wallsy's Au Revoir Thierry14 team now sit in third place, just one point behind Harpic Amsterdam, who are enjoying their best start to the season yet.

The week's highest score of 66 points sees the Grapes of Raff move into the top five for the first time this season, whilst Maclacticos and KFC Academical will be happy with their own 65 point tallies taking them to 11th and 13th in the table respectively.

Kirbs Crawlers make up the top five, followed by the Chelsea Daggers with Brother Festraerts looking back to his ominous best. Below that, it's still fairly tight all the way down to the bottom.

Cherry United obviously took note of last week's update to put some clear water between themselves and the bottom three, who really need to start improving soon. Having said that, it's been a good week for True Blue Strikers with 59 points but Brother Eilledge remains somewhat adrift at the bottom.

In a high scoring week, The Dogs Ballacks will be disappointed with 23 points, and neither Flexy's Fairies (25) nor the Virgin Surfers (26) will be jumping through any hoops either - losing out almost 40 points on the week's big scorers.

For anyone interested, the top score in the Conference League was 61 points by The Busted Clampets, while at the top, Gazza's Piping Hots and the chasing pack all closed some ground on league leader Yer Ma's Athletic. The gap now stands at just 14 points.

Cool Dude Zoo holds the weight of two leagues on his shoulders with Muckamore United and The Well Hungarians filling the rest of the relegation places. Still, the gap isn't so big that they can't close it in a week or two.

With international matches come injuries so a few of you might need to make some transfers in the next week or two.

Week 13 Update.

Dear All,

We've just passed the Week 13 stage but the question is... was it unlucky for some?

And I'm afraid the answer is yes.

It was most unlucky for True Blue Strikers who amassed just 15 points last week and are firmly routed to the bottom of the Premier League and looking odds on to join the numpties in the Conference League next season. Manager Eilledge siad earlier in the season that he "would rather die than play in that inferior league" so let's hope he can pull something out of the hat over the next few weeks.

Week 13 was also a little unlucky for the Prince of Darkness (20) who, although remaining at the top of the league, has seen his big fat cushion diminish to just 16 points. He must have bought his sofa in DFS.

In the Conference League, the Virgin Surfers also clocked up 20 points - but that's of little interest to man or beast, unless you're name is Brother Eastwood of course.

Laughing in the face of superstition, this week's highest scorers were Premiership teams Flexy's Fairies and Minibabybelle FC with 45 points apiece. Brother Kelly moves into the top five while Sister Baber, whilst still in the relegation zone, moves to within just one point of safety, causing more than a few skidmarks on the underpants of Cherry United!!! With a 34 point gap between the Cherries and Ylneverbreathefrankie (what's with these daft Gulladuff team names... first Henry Snr, then Crudden!!!), it's already looking like three from four for the drop into the conference league.

I jest of course, it's still far too early but some fingers would need to be extracted from some orifices post haste.

The Grapes of Raff, for a change, and the Boys of Summer will both be happy this week with a 43 point tally. The Grapes are still in eighth place but well within reach of a UEFA Cup place, despite having about two transfers left for the remainder of the season.

So, at the top of the Premiership, The Prince still leads from both Harpic Amsterdam and Au Revoir Thierry14 in joint second place. Kirbs Crawlers and Flexy's Fairies occupy the UEFA Cup slots, narrowly ahead of big guns The Dogs Ballacks, Chelsea Daggers and The Grapes of Raff.

True Blue Strikers, Rafa's Goatee and Minibabybellefc are under threat of relegation but Cherry United is still offering them a potential get-out clause.

In the Conference League, early front runner Yer Ma's Athletic still leads comfortably from Gazza's Piping Hots and You'llneverwalkalone, but any of the top eight are still in with a good chance of promotion at this stage.

The lowest of the low are Muckamore Utd, Cool Dude Zoo and The Well Hungarians. Shame on you.

But my friends, there is still a huge amount of the season to play and anyone who is already resigned to their fate is nothing short of a fool.

For this year's newcomers, I feel I must point out that anything can happen....

.... and it usually does!!!

DITB ACP (Annual Christmas Piss-up)

I've had a look at potential dates for this year's ACP and it's not looking good to be honest.

The only dates that suit are Saturday December 1 and December 22. I'm already out drinking on every other available date.

So, would you all let me know if you want to go with either of these dates or should we go for a New Year session instead, as we have done in the past?

I look forward to hearing rom you all ASAP.

Week 12 Update

Dear All,

With 12 weeks of the season gone, our long standing leaders still rule the roost in both leagues.

Still topping the Premier League is the Prince of Darkness whose steady scoring has maintained a cushion of almost 30 points between him and his closest rival, which happens to be Harpic Amsterdam.

Au Revoir Thierry14 and Kirbs Crawlers are neck in neck in joint third with the Professor's Chelsea Daggers occupying the final UEFA Cup place, aiming for a record third league championship.

The week's highest overall scorer was Flexys Fairies on 59 points, with reigning champion The Dogs Ballacks racking up 54 points, moving Brother Brogan into sixth place, as he attempts to become the first manager to successfully defend the DITB crown. Con Villa clocked up the third highest score of the week with 52 points.

Regular title contenders The Grapes of Raff continue to struggle in ninth position, behind Minus Three FC and Flexy's Fairies, whilst at the wrong end of the table, True Blue Strikers, Minibabybellefc and Rafa's Goatee occupy the dreaded relegation places.

The dubious honour of the week's worst score goes to Muckamore Utd, now in the drop zone of the Conference League under the 'leadership' of Brother Stewart. Only the ever-disastrous performance of Cool Dude Zoo (sometimes I wonder why he bothers!!) keeps Stewart from being the lowest of the low.

The next Martin Jol could also be Brother Nugent whose Well Hungarians are also in the Conference League's bottom three.

Poor scores also this week for Boys of Summer (23), Bazking at the Top (24), Kirbs Crawlers (24) and Minibabybellefc (24).

Leading the way in the Conference League promotion race is Yer Ma's Athletic, with the ever improving Gazza's Piping Hots closing the gap in second place. You'llneverwalkalone and Steprightin fight it out for the third remaining promotion to the Premier League.

Overall, in the League of Superleagues, The DITB Premiership is in 934rd position with an avaerage of 398 points, while the Conference League is in 5683rd position with an average of 359.4. Surely, winning money in the Conference this year is like taking candy from a baby!!! ;-)
