Week 20 Update

Dear All,

After the entire Christmas and New Year period, with all teams playing four matches, it's surprising to see that we have only one team jumping from red top black and one team going the other way. Is this a bad omen for all those in the bottom half of the table? Maybe... maybe not. Still a long long way to go my friends and the FA Cup will also make a difference in the second half of the season.

For anyone who's wondering, the league position in brackets represents your league position before a yuletide ball was kicked, not the last position you may or may not have seen on the Daily Telegraph website.

So, since I last updated you, we have a new leader in the shape of The Penalty Kings. Self-professed football guru Wallsy will feel vindicated after all these years if he can hold on to the top position until the end of the season.

The Grapes are still there in second place while the Dogs Ballacks have leapfrogged the Prince of Darkness into third. True Blue Strikers complete the European places.

At the bottom, Cool Dude Zoo and an increasingly desperate Well Hungarians continue to struggle, with the Busted Sofas joining the hapless duo in 37th place.

Believe it or not, there's no sign of the Muppetaldinhos who have every right to celebrate this weekend, having jumped to 25th place - only 12 points from the promise of Premier League football next season. Who would have believed that a month or two ago? Just goes to show that anything can happen.

And it usually does.

Top scorers last week were the aforementioned Muppetaldinhos, whose Liverpool line-up scored a magnificent 119 points, followed closely by The Penalty Kings (118) and 5-Star (114).

This season's Christmas turkeys (boom boom) are The Toffees on 63, Virgin Surfers on 67 and The Blue Monkeys /. Real Goldfish on 70 points apiece.

So, at this halfway stage of the season, the following DITB stalwarts are in danger of missing out on top flight football next season. Let this serve as a wake-up call to you all...

Real Goldfish (23) Sink or swim time for the Mac (that tv appearance has obviously gone to his head!)
The Muppetaldinhos (25) No surprise really as he's always near the bottom (ooh err missus!)

The Well Hungarians (38) Former champ turned chump in deep doo doo
Cool Dude Zoo (39) (Again no surprise. Many years of consistent mediocrity - at best!)

There you have it my friends. The second half of the season promises to be the most exciting yet as the two division structure gets ever closer.

Don't forget the preliminary round of the FFA Cup this weekend and the ACP on Saturday January 20.
