Dear All,
It's the moment that you've all been waiting for (well 16 of you anyway!).
Live from the Diving in the Box FF League Headquarters, we have the draw for the last 16 of the FFA Cup.
Ties will be played this weekend (Saturday February 18) but bear in mind that the scores will include any midweek matches from the previous Tuesday to the following Monday.
Once again, in the interests of impartiality, Brother Johnston will assist me by drawing out the teams.
So without further adieu, let the draw commence (league position as of last Monday in brackets)
The Well Hungarians (C15) vs Vuvuzola FC (P3)
Another Conference team bites the dust... or does he?
Fullofthepipe (C12) vs Cherry Utd (C4)
An all-Conference affair will ensure at least one crap team in the last eight. Cherry will be slight favourite but Henry Snr proved too good at home in the last round.
KFC Academical (P16) vs Minus Three FC (P11)
Although only five places separate the two teams, Brother Johnston is the odds on favourite in this all PL clash against the dithering Colonel. Can KFC continue his relatively good run?
Bleedin Red (P13) vs The Grapes of Raff (P4)
A scouse derby as Brother Crudden draws a home tie against the defending league champion. Having already beaten The Professor, the Chairman’s confidence must be high though!
Probably the Best (P7) vs Inshallah (C6)
Brother Stevenson will be happy with what looks on paper a comfortable home draw against the ‘mighty’ Inshallah.
Gunning for Glory (C5) vs Sofa King Watt (P13)
Brother McDermott’s experience and wiley old head will surely be too much for Brother Jones despite the CL team’s home advantage.
The Blue Monkeys (P17) vs The Busted Sofas (P18)
A bottom of the PL clash will keep one of these teams’ season alive. Premiership survival though will remain the priority so we can expect to see two weakened sides take the field.
Harpic Amsterdam (P2) vs Wallsy’s Warriors (P15)
Two weeks ago, the guru wouldn’t have been given a chance to beat Harpic on his own patch but a win over defending cup champion McNally in the last round will see Brother Walls travel to the Ajax Arena in buoyant mood.
And that completes the draw for the last 16 of the FFA Cup.
It’s not looking for the Conference with only one all CL tie. Unless of course we see a few upsets...
Good luck to one and all!
Michael R.
Diving in the Box FF League Chairman
